I’m using this opportunity to post the answers to questions a lot of people have been asking, in order to prevent superfluous topics.

Q. Is there an online version of .hack? When will it be released in English?

A. The short answer is yes. .hack//fragment was released in Japan, and allowed players to create their own character (albeit the limited character customization options) and upon acquiring two other people, you would enter the Root Towns and begin your questing. This is what's known as a lobby-style online game. Unfortunately, the game was available only in Japan, and there are no plans to release it in North America, or anywhere else. The game was simply created to measure a reaction to an online version of The World (R:1), and even that wasn't well-received because the game itself was not well-designed. Until further notice, the game won't be released in English, so don't post any topics asking about .hack//fragment, asking when it will be released, asking about any other kind of online .hack game, etc. It isn't going to happen. Sad but true. I sympathize with you all.

Q. Doppelganger? What's that?

A. An event monster in The World R:2. It is a reflection of the player that fights it, only eight levels stronger. In the //G.U. games, it looks like Haseo, only shrouded in a dark aura. Fighting it can be difficult, but a Beast Awakening can make the fight much shorter. To encounter one, travel to a grassy field area and don't move Haseo for about ten minutes. After the ten minutes are up, proceed to search through the field. The game will tell you when you’re close.

Q. I'm stuck in .hack//G.U.! Where do I go?

A. Check Memoir in the menu. It lists your objectives.

Q. I heard about _____________, can someone tell me about it?

A. Chances are if you've heard about it, most people have. Look for a topic about it before you post one of your own, please. That’s what the Search function is used for.

Q. What's Crimson VS?

A. A card game that you play in .hack//G.U. Volume 2. No, it won’t work in volume 1.

Q. What's that text input bar on the bottom of the .hack//G.U. Official Site?

A. Input special words to receive promotional goodies. Known words that work include Matsuyama, Piros, Kite, Terror of Death, and Crumple Tree.

Q. When will __________ be released in English?

A. When it's announced, you'll know. Don't ask without looking it up first. It just creates extraneous threads.
